Year 7 have one lesson a week in the Art department. In Art they will complete two discrete projects; the first of these is an introductory unit and the second looks closely at the style of one specific artist.

Introductory project

Students focus on developing their drawing and painting skills with a focus on typography. They will cover a wide range of processes and explore an understanding of colour theory. The project currently includes a homework project exploring Aboriginal or Egyptian Art, designed to encourage independent learning and research.

Kandinsky project

Students are given the opportunity to consider how Kandinsky created his artwork. They explore a range of processes before producing their own large scale outcome in Kandinsky’s style. Their homework project allows them to use their skills to design an album cover of their choice.
