Reading Mentors
Sixth formers can choose to be reading mentors, working with either our Year 7 students in school, or with some Year 5 or 6 students in some of our feeder primary schools.
You will be fully trained and given support in how to structure a reading session to help your reading buddy make progress. You'll be taught how to monitor their progress and decide what to teach them next.
Sessions take part in tutor times three days a week for 10 weeks at a time.
This role is an important one and can make a massive difference to the life chances of the students you are working with. This year, sixth formers have helped younger students improve their reading ages by an amazing 10 months in 10 weeks!
