A Level English Literature AQA

In Year 13 you will study:

Paper 1 Love through the ages:
Othello by Shakespeare
Written in 1603, this world famous play follows the black war hero Othello and shows how his ‘friend’, the treacherous Iago, uses misogyny, racism and jealousy to destroy Othello and his marriage to the beautiful, rich and virtuous Desdemona.

Paper 2 Modern Times:
A Steetcar Named Desire by Tennessee William
This award winning play, written in 1947, follows Blanche Dubois’ arrival at her sister’s apartment in New Orleans and the growing tensions between Blanche and her brutal brother-in-law which finally boil over in tragedy.

In addition you will learn how to analyse unseen poetry and prose texts; complete your coursework and revise the texts studied in year 12.

Assessments
Students complete at least 2 assessments per teacher per half term.
