Criminology
Year 13 students continue with their studies by studying two new topic areas.
Autumn term
Unit 3: Crime scene to courtroom – in this unit the students will gain an understanding of the criminal justice system, from the moment a crime has been identified, to the verdict. Students will study the personnel involved in criminal investigations and the process of a trial. Students will also visit the law courts and there will be a range of guest speakers in school to talk about their roles in the Criminal Justice System.
Spring term

Students will also begin their second unit of the year.
Unit 4: Crime and Punishment – in this unit students will apply their understanding of the awareness of criminality, criminological theories and the process of bringing an accused to court in order to evaluate the effectiveness of social control to deliver criminal justice policy.
