One Year Courses

ACCESS to Level 3/ACCESS to Apprenticeships

We have put together a package of qualifications at Level 2 (GCSE level) which can be studied alongside a retake in English and Maths.

This is an interesting and varied course which will help students decide what to do at the end of that year. Students on this course may choose to progress to A levels if they meet appropriate entry requirements or they may go on to apprenticeships, jobs or college courses.

Maths and English are compulsory for students who did not achieve a grade C or above in Year 11. This course provides the opportunity to spend a year getting the GCSE grades required to progress to a Level 3 course or to start an apprenticeship.

The course is made up of exams and course work. Students studying the Access course are required to be in school for most of the week, attending lessons with a variety of different teachers.

Our expectations of students studying the one year Access course are exactly the same as those for our A level students; students must attend all lessons, meet deadlines, be punctual and act as a role model for our younger students.

Access students will attend registration time every morning to help ensure the support is being accessed.

As with all sixth form courses, 95% attendance is considered essential.
