I am a parent and my son is currently in year 11 at Allerton Grange, having joined the school in year 7. I have been a governor in the Primary Sector since October 2006 and have held the post National Leader of Governance. I work for IBM and I currently manage a global team reporting on and evaluating the effectiveness of education  delivered internally. I also tutor on courses covering Professional Development Skills to our graduate intake. Previously, I have worked in a variety of roles including IT Support, Computer Programming, Project Management and Financial Analysis & Management. I also have a PGCE and have taught in the Adult Education sector.

As an experienced former Deputy Headteacher/Acting Headteacher coupled with my experiences as an independent Education Consultant, I provide quality, reliable, supportive as well as challenging additional capacity to the Governing Body. I bring rigour, organisation, commitment, flexibility and excellent communication skills in the areas of school improvement.


With the ongoing changes in education and the OFSTED framework, I strongly believe that the areas that are high risk to the school are: Standards, Leadership and Management at all levels, self-evaluation and the quality of Teaching and Learning, thus ensuring that the school provides value for money and a quality education service to the students, staff and the wider community.


I ensure that I am up to date with the latest trends, legislation and initiatives in education. My practice and feedback from centres with whom I have worked closely is that I am honest, transparent, patient and resourceful. I believe in sharing good practice both within and across organisations. A key part of my work is to monitor, review and evaluate, not only the colleagues with whom I work, but my own contribution to avoid complacency. This is important in ensuring that the Headteachers, Principals, Governing Bodies and other key staff receive consistent information and guidance to keep the organisations moving forward, thus impacting positively on student outcomes.

I am a former Assistant Head teacher, experienced English teacher, Moderator and Examiner.

I have an interest in Special Educational Needs and Disability. I am also the chairperson of a small charity supporting the provision of extra-curricular activities for primary school children in the North East of Leeds.

I am a Parent Governor and I have two children at Allerton Grange; a son in Year 10 and daughter in Year 9.

I want to ensure that children at AGS are given the opportunity to learn to achieve their full potential, and through sharing my knowledge, experiences and providing support/advice to the governing body, I will be that critical friend to the leadership team, constructively challenging to seek out their potential for the benefit of the school. I’ve previously held a Parent Governor role at a local primary school.

I’m a Chartered Civil Engineer by profession, currently working as an Area Director at Mott MacDonald, a private global engineering and management consultancy, in Leeds. I have experience in leadership, finance, resource and performance management and leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, building strong collaborative and trusted relationships.
