Art

In Year 8, students are taught for one hour each week, during which time they will begin to develop their drawing and painting skills in more depth, using a wider range of media. They will also be given an opportunity to explore ceramic processes. During Year 8, students will explore two in-depth projects.

Still life project

This project focuses on developing students’ drawing skills allowing them to create a large scale still life outcome. Students explore a wide range of media in this project including paint, oil pastel, charcoal, and cross hatching.

Hundertwasser Landscape Project

Students begin by developing their perspective drawing skills. They also consider the impact of the atmosphere on the way that we perceive colour in the landscape. Pupils then explore the work of Hundertwasser and his use of colour in his architectural design. Using his influence, students work together to create a series of three dimensional blocks which will create a Hundertwasser inspired sculpture. Students finally use their designs to influence a piece of clay work which is painted using Hundertwasser’s bright use of colour.
