Business Studies
Our aim is to broaden knowledge and understanding of the business world and to develop and apply knowledge and practical skills in enterprise and marketing. The course is designed with both practical and theoretical elements which will prepare learners for further study in business.
Students will be able to develop their own values and standards. This will better prepare them for the workplace and help them to make informed choices about their future careers.
Over the two year period students complete three units.
• Enterprise and marketing concepts.
• Design a business proposal.
• Market and pitch a business proposal.
Assessment
Students complete two controlled assessments worth 120 marks out of a total of 180:
Design a business proposal (60 marks)
Market and pitch a business proposal (60 marks)
Catch-up sessions
After school sessions are run every Tuesday and Thursday for students to catch up on any missed coursework and start exam prep.
Extra-curricular
The department arranges trips and outside speakers to coincide with the controlled assessment.
All students can expect a variety of activities, including independent learning. As a department we also emphasise applying knowledge to current affairs and real-life businesses.
