Year 13 visit University of Leeds Special Collections
Year 13 Classical Civilisation students stepped back in time when they attended a Roman coin handling session in the University of Leeds Special Collections, along with Miss Williams.
As part of their studies on Imperial Rome, students have examined how coinage was used as propaganda by Rome’s first emperor, Augustus. Students were able to see and handle these coins as well as discuss their significance with a classics academic.
Students also had the pleasure of meeting King’s College London’s Professor Edith Hall who took some time to talk with the class about A-level classics and answer their questions. The Year 13 students thoroughly enjoyed the session, saying how excited they were to hold the 2000 year old coins that they had studied.
