Super Star Student
Year 9 student, Rayhan A, received the Super Star of the Year Award 2018 for his voluntary work with the CATCH Leeds charity in Harehills at a celebartion event on 19 December 2018.
CATCH stands for ‘Community Action To Create Hope’. The CATCH Team has been engaging with adults and young people from diverse backgrounds for over 10 years and has developed into a charity that is run by the community, for the community.
Rayhan has been volunteering with CATCH for over two and a half years. He has worked hard on the 'Super Stars - Powering Your Potential' programme and was the first young person to receive both the Yellow and Blue Star Awards. Super Stars is a Volunteer Development Programme co-produced by CATCH and Engage which empowers volunteers of all ages to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and experiences to set them on a path to becoming a leader of the future, whilst making a positive difference in their local communities. The programmes are not easy and to complete a Star Award, volunteers need to fulfil a number of competencies.
Rayhan also helps in the cafe and works with other young people and children. He has shown great dedication, commitment, respect for diversity and helps children who don't speak English.
Mr Roper, Headteacher, said, "This award recognises Rayhan's outstanding achievement and commitment through his volunteering with CATCH. Congratulations".
