Lidgett Lane Entrance Roadworks
Subject to weather conditions roadworks are expected to take 8 weeks to complete, starting from the 25th January 2021.
The works will be separated into two phases, with the first phase dealing with the lay-bys and the second phase concentrating on the formation of the new mini-roundabout.
During this period the public rights of way and vehicular access will be diverted to allow the works to be completed. Effectively this closes the left hand lane of the service road, leading in from Lidgett Lane, and the associated public footpath. This is to allow the footpath to be moved and the new lay-bys and lighting to be installed. The public right of way will be maintained by using the new pedestrian entrance off Lidgett Lane, using the routes created to support the new development that are already in place.
Vehicle access will be limited to one way traffic during this period, with the service road being used as the ‘way in’ and leading up to both the Allerton Grange and Moor Allerton Hall. The ‘way out’ in this period will utilise the new loop system that takes vehicles past Moor Allerton Hall Primary School and, ultimately, joining back up with the service road. The initial entrance at the service road will allow for two way traffic up to the exit from the Primary School loop system, after which it will revert to single lane use.
The construction contractor will then manage their vehicle movements around both schools critical access times, namely the start and end of the school day. In addition, they will continue to monitor the effectiveness of these temporary setups to ensure successful implementation.
