Nikesh Shukla impresses Year 10
On Wednesday 10th October, the author, broadcaster and writer Nikesh Shukla spoke to the whole of Year 10.
Nikesh has written three books for adults and has just published his very first YA book called ‘Run Riot’, an action packed thriller that takes on the themes of gentrification, police corruption, friendship and community. He is also the editor of the very influential and award winning collection of essays, “The Good Immigrant”.
Nikesh spoke to the students about how he became a writer, the first book that influenced him and about standing up for what you believe in. He spoke about the lack of representation of writers from ethnic minorities and how he and other writers are addressing this issue and attempting to change things. He also read from his novel “Run Riot” and the students were able to ask questions at the end.
His talk was inspiring and heart felt, givimg the students lots to think about. We now have 5 copies of his novel in the library for students to borrow and enjoy.
