Millionaire Readers Quiz
On Tuesday 17 July, students from Year 7 and 8, who have read a million words this year, gathered in the library for a Bumper Book Quiz.
This year has seen a record number of Millionaire Readers; 21 students from Year 7 and 18 from Year 8.
Each Millionaire received a book as a prize and took part in the quiz in mixed teams.
Mr Norrington presented them all with an Excellence in Reading postcard to take home. He also shared with them a photo of himself winning a book quiz for his own school back in 1985!
Every time students read a book they take a quiz, which then estimates an amount of words read. Some of the students have actually read 2 or 3 million, with one student having read a whopping 5 million words.
Mr Norrington, Director of Learning at Allerton Grange, said “It is a wonderful achievement for these students. We are proud to recognise the efforts of those working towards increasing their literacy and reading skills through this initiative.”
