Mental Health Week

It's Mental Health Week in school, 7 - 11 October 2019.

Throughout the week, AGS staff will be available to provide support to any student affected by subject matter discussed.

Each day we will be having a Mental Health themed assembly for each year group.

There will be a pop-up Mental Health stand in the Cyber Cafe every day, for students to talk to members of staff and get some useful resources. The stall will be giving out yellow ribbons to celebrate World Mental Health Day on Thursday 10 October.

On Tuesday 8 October, all Year 10 and Year 11 students have the opportunity to see a Red Ladder Theatre Company performance of 'The Parting Glass' which uses live theatre to bring the subject of mental health and suicide into the open, stimulating discussion, mutual support and reducing the risk of men taking their own lives.

The Allerton Grange Wellbeing Garden is a relaxing space for students and staff to take a few minutes before or after school and enjoy the outdoors. Mr Hanson is our Wellbeing Garden leader if you would like more information or would like to get involved with looking after the garden.

We are in the process of recruiting staff mental health champions and once in they are in place, we will also be looking for student volunteers. They will all be known as Allerton Grange HEROs (Health Emotions Resilience Optimism). Each staff HERO will be identified by wearing a bright yellow 'smiley face' lanyard.
