Maths Challenges
UKMT Team Maths Challenge
Four students represented Allerton Grange in the annual regional final of the UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) Team Maths Challenge event at Lawnswood School on 28 February 2019.
The students involved were Isaac B and Emma C from year 8, and Kidiest H and Tana W from year 9.
We finished 4th out of 25 teams, which is a fantastic achievement, and it equals our record from last year. The Allerton Grange team’s score was very close to the top three.
Mr Sumroy said, “The students did brilliantly well, worked well as a team and deserve congratulations for their effort and the way they so positively represented the school. I received a comment from the teacher who was with them all day as to how competitive they were, and how you could tell they really wanted to do well. Very well done to all four students, I am immensely proud of them."
Maths Feast
An AGS Team of Year 10 students also took part in the Maths Feast on 5 March.
The Year 10 Maths Feast is a national competition which combines mathematical, communication and teamwork skills and offers students another way to express and develop their enjoyment of mathematics.
This year 14 teams attended the competition and the AGS team came third. The students were Jo G, Aimie B, Finn R, Tasneem E, Areeba M, Mahbob A, Matilda C and Gurpreet B.
Ms Kurasz said: “Our students were enthusiastic and active and enjoyed the competition. Well done to you all!”
