Magna Science Adventure for Year 8
Year 8 students followed the recent Year 7 visit to the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham with their own trip on Thursday 14 February.
They visited the four themed galleries, Air, Earth, Fire and Water and got to see science in action through operating pulley systems, digging with a JCB, exploring a tunnel, raising balls into the air and observing a tornado made of fire. The students took part in a Who Shot? workshop, where they turned detective, studied a crime scene, gathered evidence and figured out who fired the shot... It was an introduction to simple forensic science techniques such as chromatography, blood spatter patterns and fingerprints and supported learning about scientific enquiry and thinking skills.
