Hallé Orchestra
A group of students, studying towards a GCSE in music, attended a performance from the Hallé Orchestra, at The Bridgewater, in Manchester.
Hallé has worked in partnership with Music Education Hubs to design a programme covering the history of the orchestra, from Baroque to the present day, including repertoire taken from the current GCSE syllabus.
The orchestra’s performance, conducted by Assistant Conductor, Jonathon Heyward, was punctuated with further detail about each piece, leading the audience on a musical journey through the ages. In a new twist to the format, soloists from the Royal Northern College of Music also took part in an on-stage interview, providing an insight into life in higher education.
Mr Roper, Headteacher at Allerton Grange School said, “Trips such as these provide so much added value for our students. Not only have they been able to experience a fantastic concert performance in a stunning, state of the art venue, they have also had the opportunity to hear from others who have followed a musical route into further education.”
