BBC Bitesize Careers Panel
Following on from National Careers Week, students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 took part in two BBC Bitesize Careers in the Creative Industries Panel workshops on 12 March.
The workshops were presented by Jonny Nelson (CBBC Saturday Mash-Up) with panellists Stu Houchin (GFX Giant Robot), Gemma Webster (Mechanical Design Engineer, StageOne) and Emma Glendening (Researcher, BBC).
Students were introduced to the endless creative career possibilities open to them. The panel spoke about their career paths, the subjects they studied at GCSE and A Level and what they do now, before taking questions from the audience.
Questions from the students were well-thought-out and included:
• How many jobs have you had?
• Who or what inspired you?
• What’s your greatest success?
• Who is the most famous person you’ve met?
• What’s been the toughest part of your career?
• How long did it take you to get to this job?
• What’s the best advice you can give to us?
They came away with a clear message to follow your passion and work hard whether it's choosing GCSE subjects or working in your dream job.
