Athletics Win

On Tuesday 26 June, our Athletics team took part in the Leeds Schools’ Athletics competition finals at John Charles Centre for Sport. A huge congratulations from everyone at Allerton Grange to our Junior Girls’ team, who beat off stiff competition to clinch first place!

The whole team have done fantastically well in the qualifying rounds. Year 7 came 3rd in the first pool and placed 8th overall out of the 23 schools taking part.

In the penultimate round, the Junior Girls placed 1st in their pool and the Junior Boys won 2nd, making it through to the final. The Intermediate (Years 9 and 10) Girls placed 3rd in their heat to become reserves for the final, whilst the Intermediate Boys clinched 1st in theirs and also progressed through to compete in the final.

Mr Roper, Headteacher, said “We are extremely proud of the Gold win for our Junior Girls. The combined achievements of the Athletics team as a whole have shown that Allerton Grange is a force to be reckoned with in the world of combined track and field sports. I have had the pleasure of personally recognising their successes as part of my Hot Chocolate Rewards meetings recently; they are all a pleasure to speak with and a real inspiration to our other students.”
